Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a part of the IB curriculum. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is for students aged from 11-16. The MYP is a framework that encourages the students to establish valuable connections between their academics and the real world. MYP is a five-year programme. Students who complete the MYP are eligible to undertake the Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme offered by the IB. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) consists of eight subject groups mentioned below:
- Language acquisition
- Language and literature
- Individuals and societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- Arts
- Physical and health education
- Design
MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group in a year of the programme.
Benefits of IB Curriculum – MYP Curriculum
In the 4th and 5th years, students are free to select courses from six of the eight subject groups to provide greater flexibility in meeting the requirements and individual student needs. MYP students also must complete a long-term project where they can measure what they know and evaluate themselves on a practical basis.
